Overview

The University of Northampton is seeking a strategic and experienced Maintenance Manager to oversee the delivery of high-quality, customer-focused maintenance services across our diverse estate. This is a key leadership post within Estates & Campus Services, offering the chance to shape the University's built environment while supporting its long-term sustainability and operational goals.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the Building Services and External Services teams to ensure the University's buildings, systems, and grounds meet high standards in compliance, and in both planned and reactive maintenance tasks.
  • Manage in-house teams and subcontractors, oversee the Permit to Work system, and supervise contract management, contractor mobilisation, and handling underperformance.
  • Support the University's carbon management plan, ensure business continuity, and enhance the student and staff experience through a well-maintained campus.
  • Provide guidance, manage projects, and support University stakeholders across a range of maintenance projects.
Essential Qualifications
  • Degree in a relevant discipline or formal professional qualification
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • IOSH and other relevant qualifications
Desirable Qualifications
  • Appropriate membership of a professional body as recognised and required for the post
  • NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical and/or electrical services
