A leading engineering firm in Sudbury is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to support their asset maintenance program. You will be responsible for maintaining production machines and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate has NVQ 3 in Engineering and experience in FMCG environments. This role offers a contract of 3-6 months with continental shifts.

Qualifications

  • Ideally, proven track record in an FMCG Food Environment.
  • Proven track record in Planned & Preventative Maintenance.

Overview

Maintenance Engineer — Location: Sudbury. Job Type: Contract 3-6 months. Hours: Continental shifts (2 days 2 nights 4 days off). Salary: Dependent on experience.

Our client is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to Join their dynamic team, where you will play a crucial role in supporting and implementing the factory asset maintenance programme. This position is aimed at eliminating unplanned stops, optimising maintenance costs, and increasing asset intensity. You will be responsible for a defined set of production and packaging assets, driving your area to world-class performance levels in safety, quality, cost, and service.

Day-to-day of the role
  • Maintain the basic condition of machines through reactive, preventative, and predictive maintenance activities.
  • Support breakdowns and participate in line improvements across the factory, becoming the Subject Matter Expert for your selected area.
  • Drive a safe culture and eliminate safety risks.
  • Ensure all work is completed to a high engineering standard following GMP and safe systems of work at all times.
  • Ensure compliance with quality policies, particularly engineering change management and line release.
  • Record breakdowns, conduct root cause analysis, and take ownership of follow-up actions.
  • Support Root Cause Analysis practices and projects.
  • Support the Capability Build of both the Shift Technicians and the Apprentice Technicians, as well as supporting and developing the AM team following our TPM roadmap on site.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Educated to apprenticeship level NVQ 3 in Engineering or equivalent; an Electrical bias is advantageous.
  • Ideally, a proven track record in a FMCG Food Environment.
  • Proven track record in Planned & Preventative Maintenance.
  • Proven track record in problem-solving methodology.
  • Understanding of Lean manufacturing tools including TPM is preferable.
