Overview

Maintenance Engineer: Shift Engineer position with a leading, high-volume bakery operation in Nottingham. Permanent night shift (4 on, 4 off). Fast-moving food production environment where quality, reliability, and craftsmanship matter.

Responsibilities
  • Rapidly responding to equipment faults and breakdowns to minimise disruption.
  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) with precision and pride.
  • Supporting both high-care and low-care production areas—from mixers and conveyors to ovens and packaging lines.
  • Getting involved in improvement and reliability projects to boost uptime and efficiency.
  • Ensuring compliance with food safety, hygiene, and Health & Safety standards.
  • Collaborating with other teams, including Production, Technical, and HSE, to maintain smooth operations.
What We're Looking For
  • A time-served engineer with 3+ years of experience post-apprenticeship.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding abilities.
  • Experience working in food, FMCG, or similar fast-paced manufacturing environments (bakery experience is a huge bonus).
  • Qualifications such as ONC / NVQ Level 3 in Engineering or equivalent.
  • A calm, proactive approach and the ability to work independently on a night shift.
