Job Summary

Atlas BFW Management Ltd, a wholly‑owned subsidiary of Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, is looking for an Electrical Engineer to manage day‑to‑day servicing, maintenance and reactive work. The successful applicant will work to the Atlas terms and conditions and be subject to the Trust’s Health Technical Memorandums (HTMs), Health Building Notes (HBNs) and relevant British and European Standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate and supervise day‑to‑day maintenance, defect rectification, PPM and first‑time fixes in compliance with legislation and HTMs.
  • Develop and implement the Estate’s strategy based on Trust and Atlas strategic goals.
  • Fault‑find and test complex LV networks, critical systems, nurse call equipment, fire alarms and other plant (heated trolleys, dishwashers, AHUs).
  • Carry out fixed‑installation testing, general inspections and ongoing plant maintenance.
  • Engage contractors and trade groups to deliver an effective maintenance service, ensuring health, safety and Trust policies are adhered to.
  • Prepare reports, collate data and present statistical analyses to senior management.
  • Support on‑call rota, covering technical queries and on‑site incidents during nights and weekends.
Qualifications – Essential
  • Qualified to the 17th/18th Edition Regulations (Electrical/Electronic).
  • City & Guilds 2391‑52 combined Testing & Inspection qualification.
  • Minimum five years post‑qualification experience in electrical engineering.
Qualifications – Desirable
  • Current and clean driving licence with willingness to travel between sites.
  • Knowledge of BMS, UPS, fire and other plant systems.
  • Experience in NHS Estates operations and maintenance.
Training & Experience
  • Structured City & Guilds training program in electrical engineering.
  • Recognised apprenticeship in electrical engineering.
  • Ability to interpret detailed instructions, write reports and perform statistical data analysis.
  • Ability to manage staff and contractors and prioritise workload.
Other Essential Skills
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Health & Safety awareness and capacity to manage contractors.
  • Operational planning, budgeting and IT literacy.
  • Commitment to flexible hours, including nighttime and weekend work.

Compensation and Benefits

Band 4, permanent, full‑time position. Salary range £26,942 – £32,572 per year with an additional 4.5 % on‑call rotation pay. Other benefits include:
