Overview

Machine Shop Supervisor

First Achieves Engineering is working in partnership with our client, an employee-owned foundry expertizing in the manufacturing sector. The opportunity has arisen for an experienced machine shop supervisor to join their growing team. The role entails encouraging welders & machine operators to produce quality components in the best possible time frame.

Main Duties of the Role

• Setting and operating of conventional horizontal boring machine.
• Motivating team to produce 1st class quality products and get all work together.
• Operating various machine tools: e.g. lathe, milling machine
• Working to tight tolerances.
• Inspection of work through the manufacturing process.
• Assist in the creation of standard working procedures for typical processes.
• Adhering to good housekeeping practices, to ensure all equipment and working areas are clean and tidy.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a machine operator with supervisory skills.
• Skilled in operating various machine tools and specialize in conventional horizontal boring.
• The ability to read mechanical drawings and understand the machining requirement from these.

Desirable

• Having used a "Kerns Richard SH752 or similar boring machine.
• Have a counterbalance forklift truck license.
• Ability to operate overhead crane to load and unload parts
• Safe working practice knowledge in a machine shop environment.
