Machine Operator

Work as a Machine Operator for a Specialist Flexible Packaging Manufacturer in Leeds. Full-time 40 hours per week, pay £12.21 – £12.91 per hour.

Hours of work

Current shifts 6am–2pm and 2pm–10pm. Will move onto three shifts (6am–2pm, 2pm–10pm, 10pm–6am). Must commit to all three.

Responsibilities
  • Run Conversion machines, produce work to customer specifications, meet operational KPIs.
  • Operate all machines in the department.
  • Prioritise slitting jobs, organise production schedule.
  • Use correct work ticket and fill documentation on completion.
  • Use Radius system appropriately.
  • Maintain clean, tidy, obstruction‑free working area.
  • Embrace continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Communicate defects to Slitting and Conversion Manager or Shift Manager.
  • Operate in line with site health, safety, environmental and quality standards (BRC & ISO).
  • Organise workload in line with daily print programme, deliver against targets and customer requirements.
  • Ensure established quality standards are met.
  • Assist with production operations and equipment upkeep as required.
  • Check orders, process control, paperwork and requirements in advance of plan, notify Shift Manager immediately of missing or non‑conformities.
  • Provide overtime cover as necessary and reasonable.
  • Follow cleaning regime, complete all documentation.
  • Undertake reasonable requests directed by management from time to time.
Qualifications
  • Reliable, motivated, enthusiastic about producing finished product to customer specifications.
  • Ability to work in fast‑paced manufacturing environment, meet demanding deadlines.
  • Experience in similar role desirable but not essential; full training provided.
  • Reasonable level of fitness required. Role involves physical activity (lifting & bending).
