Responsibilities

  • Weigh and record charge materials accurately.
  • Safely load furnaces using approved handling equipment.
  • Inspect furnace linings and crucibles before charging.
  • Prepare parts, securing them in fixtures.
  • Operate saws or cut-off wheels safely.

Job role: Machine Operative

Location: Leicester

Shift: Monday-Thursday 07:30-16:30 | Friday 07:30-12:30

Pay Rate: £12.32 per hour

A specialist casting manufacturer based in Leicester. They have been operating for over 50 years and serve a broad range of industries globally.

The Role

We're looking for a reliable and safety-conscious Machine Operative to join a busy and growing manufacturing team, working in a foundry environment.

You'll play a key role in supporting production through the safe operation of foundry and cut-off equipment in the manufacture of precision castings.

This is a hands-on, physical position where quality, teamwork, and attention to detail are essential.

Key Responsibilities
Foundry Operations
  • Weigh and record charge materials accurately
  • Safely load furnaces using approved handling equipment
  • Inspect furnace linings and crucibles before charging
  • Pre-heat moulds prior to pouring
  • Monitor furnace temperatures within specified limits
Cut-Off Operations
  • Prepare parts, securing them in fixtures
  • Identify correct cutting points and safely operate saws or cut-off wheels
  • Remove parts from trees and segregate scrap for re-melt
  • Maintain safe working practices with correct guarding and secure grip
About You
  • Experience in a heavy manufacturing environment desirable (training provided)
