Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS), an agency of the Ministry of Justice, through Brook Street.

  • Pay Rate: £12.36 per hour
  • Location: Luton Crown Court
  • Contract Type: Temporary until 14/04/2026 (with a view to extend)
  • Hours: Full-time - 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM)

Luton Crown Court deals with serious criminal cases and plays a vital role in the justice system. The court supports judges, legal professionals, and court users to ensure hearings are delivered efficiently, fairly, and professionally.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide face‑to‑face and telephone support to court users and legal professionals
  • Prepare and process documentation for court hearings
  • Handle applications and liaise with internal and external stakeholders
  • Support court clerking duties during hearings
  • Scan and upload documents to internal court systems
  • Schedule hearings and issue court documentation
  • Process warrants and court‑related administration

This is a fully office‑based role – remote working is not available.

Skills & Experience Required
  • Strong customer service and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Previous administrative experience with good knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage workload independently and prioritise tasks
  • Positive, proactive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Previous experience within a court, legal, or government environment is desirable but not essential
Additional Information
  • A DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check is required prior to starting – this will be arranged by Brook Street.
