Job description
Job Title: Logistics Operative / Porter

Location: QMC Campus, Derby Road, Nottingham, NG7 2UH

Shift Pattern: 8hr shifts, Between Monday to Sunday (37.5 hours a week)

Must be able to cover all of the following shift patterns 06:00am - 14:00pm & 14:00pm - 22:00pm

Pay: £12.21, plus enhanced pay for weekends and bank holidays

About the Trust

We deliver district general services to 2.5m residents of Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, and its surrounding communities. Our specialist services allow us to deliver care to 4.5m people from across the East Midlands and nationally for a handful of services. QMC is where our Emergency Department (ED), Major Trauma Centre and the Nottingham Children's Hospital are based. It is also home to the University of Nottingham's School of Nursing and Medical School. Nottingham City Hospital is our planned care site, where our cancer centre, heart centre and stroke services are based, and where some of our emergency admissions units are located. Ropewalk House is where we provide a range of outpatient services, including hearing services.

What you will be responsible for
  • Transfer of patients either in wheelchairs, on a bed/trolley to and from wards and departments within the required time.
  • Assist with the moving and handling of patients when requested.
  • Moving deceased patients from wards/ departments to the mortuary in a discreet and sensitive manner, observing any religious or cultural requirements.
  • Collection and delivery of pharmacy stores to wards and departments
  • Collection of urgent specimens from wards and departments to the path lab.
  • Receive deliveries and deliver and exchange medical gas cylinders in wards and departments.
  • Assist the nursing team whilst transporting patients who are on ventilators/medical gas etc.
  • Ensure that all patient escort work related areas are maintained to agreed levels of cleanliness and tidiness.

The role will involve, but not be limited to you performing the above.

You will have the following skills/experience
  • Experience working in a hospital setting in a similar role.
  • Caring and polite manner, professional, flexible, positive, adaptable, persuasive, motivated, diplomatic, pro‑active and innovative team player and adaptable to change.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills (must be able to complete application data and paperwork accurately and legibly).
  • Physically Fit to lift and move patients and inert objects in accordance with manual handling training.
  • Ability to manoeuvre patients via a trolley, wheelchair, PAT slide or bed (To include Bariatric).
  • Stable calm temperament, able to work in stressful situations and meet response times.
