Job description
About the Role:
  • Fleet/ Planning and delivery of operational transport activities through your Transport Operations and Team Managers, to ensure the required level of service is provided to the customer
  • Accountability for overall productivity within the operation, ensuring that activities are cost effective and levels of resource are managed effectively
  • Maintaining and improving performance levels to maximise efficiency of operation in line with account KPI's
  • Ensuring vehicles are legally compliant
  • Effectively motivate, manage, and inspire your management team to develop and grow the skills of their teams
  • Analysing customer feedback/information & propose innovative ideas to enhance the overall function
  • Driving forward the continuous improvement of the operation
  • Working within the departmental budget to own and achieve targets
  • Ensuring that all requirements relating to safety, health, environment, and quality are being fully implemented
Essential Criteria:
  • Thorough knowledge and hands on experience of working in a large, complex transport function - ideally within temperature-controlled distribution.
  • A passion for encouraging teamwork, with an innovative approach to leadership - being creative and implementing new ways to improve performance and get the best out of your people
  • A focus on promoting a culture where all employees are engaged
  • Excellent customer relationship building skills
  • Strong commercial awareness
  • An analytical mind-set with a good understanding of reporting and recording performance statistics
  • Relevant transport management systems knowledge
  • CPC licence holder
