Overview

This exciting opportunity is for a Transport and Logistics Assistant within the Logistics/Transport team of Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, working from Southport and Ormskirk Hospitals.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Logistics Team Leader with day‑to‑day running of the transport and stores department and accuracy of transport paperwork.
  • Deliver medical equipment, records, pharmacy and general distribution of goods and paperwork to agreed locations within the Trust efficiently and on time.
  • Maintain clean and tidy stores areas, free of obstruction and comply with road safety legislation.
  • Liaise with Transport, Portering, Procurement and Finance staff to organise efficient transfer of goods and manage payment for goods received or returned to NHS Logistics.
  • Carry out daily safety checks on vehicles and report defects to the Transport & Logistics Manager.
  • Check accuracy of supporting documentation for received/delivered goods and maintain accurate computer records.
  • Respect patient confidentiality at all times and comply with Manual Handling, COSHH and Health & Safety policies.
Qualifications
  • Full driving licence.

Desirable Skills
  • EDCL and IT skills.
  • Experience in a logistics or portering environment.
Experience
  • Large scale or health care portering work.
  • Use of computer, VDU and photocopier.

Working Pattern

Full‑time, Part‑time. Permanent. Band 2. Salary £24,465 a year pro rata.
