This is an exciting opportunity to become a key member of our department, playing a crucial role in advancing our comprehensive radiology services.

About the Unit

The Trust has one of the largest breast units in the country, encompassing both radiology (screening and symptomatic) and surgery. Our symptomatic service manages approximately 21,000 outpatient cases and performs around 900 surgeries annually. Additionally, the West of London Breast Screening Service screens about 47,000 women each year.

Our department is well‑equipped, featuring ultrasound, breast MRI, breast tomosynthesis, contrast‑enhanced mammography and ultrasound/MR fusion. Research is a vital component of our service, with numerous exciting projects underway, both independently and in collaboration with breast surgery. Training is a strong focus, with our highly regarded Radiology training scheme currently hosting approximately 67 trainees. Imperial is the Lead Provider for NW London radiology.

In this role, you will be responsible for performing and interpreting a variety of imaging studies, including mammography, breast ultrasound, MRI, tomosynthesis, and contrast‑enhanced mammography. Your skills and insights will aid in the early detection and diagnosis of breast cancer, as well as in the management of benign breast conditions. You will also play a pivotal role in the multidisciplinary team meetings, providing expert opinions and collaborating with surgeons, oncologists, pathologists, and breast care nurses to develop comprehensive patient management plans.

Furthermore, you may be involved in supervising and training radiology trainees, sharing your knowledge and experience to foster the next generation of radiologists. You will also have the opportunity to engage in innovative research projects, contributing to the advancement of breast imaging techniques and improving patient outcomes.
