Job description
Overview

We are looking for passionate and enthusiastic Geriatricians to join our existing team of six dedicated consultant colleagues. There has been significant investment and expansion of Older People’s Services within Barts Health NHS Trust on the Newham Site, making it an exciting time to join our team. There are rewarding opportunities available within Frailty, Acute Geriatrics, Medical Liaison, Community Liaison (including Virtual Wards and Care Home Medicine) as well as subspecialty outpatient clinics. We deliver outstanding clinical care and high quality, award-winning services for people living within the London Borough of Newham, and the surrounding areas. We are leaders in developing a flexible working environment and pride ourselves on the importance of well-being and a good work-life balance. We welcome, and encourage, applications for LTFT working. We value clinical leadership across all our specialties, and Barts Health is committed to delivering an excellent leadership development programme in partnership with the Kings Fund. Candidates interested in a clinical lead role are encouraged to apply.

Main duties of the job

Post 1: The successful candidate will be expected to provide clinical leadership to our award-winning Virtual Frailty Team as well as delivering an early CGA in ED for acute geriatric admissions. This will rotate with cover for an acute inpatient ward (max 13 beds).

Post 2: The successful candidate will rotate between an acute inpatient ward (max 13 beds) and the Front Door Frailty Team based in ED delivering CGA with a view to avoid unnecessary admissions and re-presentation to hospital in frail older adults.

Both posts will be expected to contribute to the General Internal Medicine on-call rota (acute unselected medical take covering all ages) with a frequency of 1:12 (B supplement). Pro rata on-call slot available for LTFT posts.

You must hold full registration with the General Medical Council and be on the Specialist Register for Geriatric and General Medicine or within 6 months of obtaining CCT.

The candidates will be supported by the Clinical Lead and there is the opportunity for mentorship to help you transition into your new role.
