Locum Consultant Cardiothoracic Radiologist
Job overview

We are seeking a full‑time Locum Consultant Radiologist with an interest in Cardiothoracic Imaging to support the expansion of radiology services across multiple sites, including a new Community Diagnostic Centre expected to open in December 2026.

NUH hosts a large lung cancer service, diagnosing and treating 600 new cases per annum. It also features a tertiary cardiothoracic surgical unit and the regional PET centre.

NUH pioneered a completely radiology‑led day‑case ambulatory lung biopsy service, offering direct‑to‑home discharge from CT in over 95% of lung biopsies.

Main duties of the job

Provide diagnostic imaging for CT, MRI, plain film, ultrasound and interventional procedures, supporting the existing group of seven thoracic radiologists.

Participate in oncological MDTs, a range of clinico‑radiological meetings, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and research with the Sir Peter Mansfield Imaging Centre.

Collaborate with body radiologists across both sites and may in the future undertake clinical sessions at neighbouring Trusts.

Work flexible call rosters, ranging from 1:10 diagnostic on‑call to 1:8 interventional body radiology, according to clinical skill set.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Applicants must hold the Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR) or equivalent, and be registered with the GMC, ideally on the Specialist Register. Possession of a CCT (or equivalent) is desirable; CESR completion is supported.

Experience with advanced imaging techniques and a research track record are desirable.

The successful applicant will work flexibly in a team, develop new services, and collaborate with body radiologists across both sites.
