A leading law firm in Birmingham is looking for an experienced Paralegal to join their Local Government team. You will manage your own caseload predominantly involving fast-track claims, assist fee earners with legal research and case management, and attend court hearings. Overview

Our Casualty team provides a full, expert service in defending public (PL) and employers' liability (EL) claims, across the private sector and the public sector. Weightmans' team is second-to-none in providing defendant litigation services in these and other specialist Casualty areas. We operate on a national basis with dedicated commercial insurance and public sector teams. We are currently recruiting for an experienced Paralegal to join our Casualty Local Government Team in Birmingham.

Responsibilities
  • Work in the dedicated Local Government team based out of Birmingham with your own caseload of predominantly fast-track claims (and/or multi track depending on experience).
  • Receive direct instructions from both insureds and insurers for a wide range of cases involving public sector and insurance clients nationally.
  • Assist fee earners with general case management, legal research, drafting of witness statements and reports to clients, and preparation for court hearings.
  • Attend client meetings and court hearings to support fee earners.
  • Assist with the instruction of Counsel and experts.
  • Respond promptly and accurately to correspondence and telephone enquiries from clients and other parties, with and without supervision.
  • Review records and support the team's business development activities.
  • Complete MI procedures as required.
  • Achieve set financial and chargeable targets.
  • Ensure relevant deadlines, SLAs, quality measures and KPIs are adhered to.
