Our client will be stepping into her 3rd year at Essex University studying Creative Writing. She has a diagnosis of Spina Bifida and is a full-time wheelchair user. She is easy-going, has a good sense of humour, and enjoys makeup while watching classic 2000s comedies and period dramas or listening to old-fashioned music. She is keen to gain more independence while at university.
As written by our client I am a happy, easy going 23-year-old with an old soul. I am studying creative writing at Essex University to explore how writing can make someone feel seen and heard. I want to become more independent, as I have relied heavily on family, especially my mum. I relax by spending time with makeup and listening to music I love. I enjoy socializing but also value time alone. I own a dog, so animal lovers are welcome, though I won’t be bringing him. I am a practising Catholic and attend church when I feel well enough. I have an active social life with many friends and family in London and would expect to be driven in my disability-accessible car to activities as needed.
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a positive difference in someone else’s life by helping the client achieve her goals and aspirations. The role offers meaningful work and job satisfaction.
Responsibilities include (examples):
Personal care (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting); health care and administering medicine with appropriate equipment; driving the client’s adapted van; daily living tasks (cooking, shopping); accompanying medical appointments; social support; housekeeping and domestic duties. Full training in the client’s needs will be provided. A driver is essential, with a full clean UK driving licence, as you will be driving the client’s adapted car.
You may not have experience in every aspect of our client’s care; full training is provided in her specific needs.
