Make a real difference in your local community as a Library Team Assistant at Leigh Park Library, part of the new Best Start Family Hub initiative. This is a varied, people-focused role, combining excellent customer service and library activities with community outreach – promoting services in schools, community centres, and other venues. You’ll also work closely with partners, welcoming them into the library and supporting initiatives that strengthen local connections. If you enjoy variety, teamwork, and helping others, this is the role for you.

What you’ll do
  • Create a welcoming, inclusive space and help customers of all ages access library services.
  • Promote Best Start services in the community, including presenting to large groups such as school assemblies.
  • Work with partners, welcoming them and their clients to the library and supporting them in delivering their services.
  • Help customers build digital confidence and support with admin tasks including payments, calls, and stock management.
  • Lead activities like Rhyme Time and Story Time and promote reading initiatives.
  • Carry out manual tasks such as moving furniture, lifting boxes, and setting up spaces for activities.

  • Week 1: Tuesday 9am ‑ 5pm | Thursday 9am ‑ 5pm | Friday 9am ‑ 5pm | Saturday 9am ‑ 1:30pm.
  • Week 2: Thursday 9:30am ‑ 5pm | Friday 9am ‑ 5pm | Saturday 9am ‑ 1:30pm.
