Job description

We are seeking a Legal Counsel to provide legal support to the UK & Ireland's Supply Chain and Procurement (SC&P) function.

This part-time role (30 hours per week) offers flexibility within a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

The role will primarily focus on procurement contracts, but also covers a diverse range of sectors, including banking, office environments, and production. You will support the SC&P function across four key categories: hard facilities management, food, catering and waste services, indirect services (including temporary labour, cleaning, laundry, IT, landscaping, and office facilities such as mailroom and AV), and fleet and travel.

As the Legal Counsel, you will provide legal expertise throughout the entire lifecycle of transactions, from bidding and negotiation to business as usual (BAU) and exit/termination stages.

This is a busy and varied role, ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working on diverse contracts.

We pride ourselves on offering flexibility, trust, and a supportive work culture where employees are valued.

We also believe in providing a healthy work-life balance, so you can have the flexibility to balance your professional and personal commitments.

Responsibilities
  • Negotiating and advising on commercial agreements with suppliers, including goods and services, equipment hire, and IT contracts.
  • Drafting and negotiating subcontractor agreements and flow-down terms.
  • Providing direct support to the SC&P Director and Procurement Leadership Team on strategic decisions and issues.
  • Assisting with disputes between the business, clients, and suppliers, and instructing external counsel when necessary.
  • Advising on legal developments and their implications for the business.
  • Supporting the Procurement Excellence team with supplier assurance issues.
  • Maintaining and updating standard supplier contract terms.
Qualifications
  • Fully qualified lawyer with a strong background in commercial contract law.
  • Experience advising and negotiating on complex supply and commercial contracts, requiring in-depth knowledge of contract law.
  • Solid expertise in data protection, competition law, TUPE, and intellectual property rights in commercial transactions.
  • Familiarity with IT and technology contracts, including SaaS, app development, product development, and licensing arrangements.
  • Knowledge of the legal implications of off-payroll workers (agency, consultants, umbrella) is desirable.
  • Collaborative team player, proactive, and adaptable with a down-to-earth approach to working with others.
