Job description

At Naked Wines, our customers (we call them Angels) trust us with their stories, their orders, and their support for our Winemakers. Protecting that trust is just as important as discovering the next great Pinot Noir. That's where you come in.

We're looking for a mid-level Data Privacy Lawyer to join our small but mighty legal team. You'll be the go-to person for all things data protection, AI, and digital innovation, helping us grow responsibly while keeping our Angels' data safe. And because we like to keep things interesting, you'll also get stuck into broader commercial legal work, from contracts to everyday business challenges.

If you're excited by the idea of mixing legal expertise with commercial pragmatism - and doing it in a business that moves fast and doesn't always color inside the lines - we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Be the friendly face (and sharp mind) advising on data protection across the UK, Australia, and the US
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with privacy regulators
  • Partner with our product, tech, and commercial teams to bake privacy into what we build - without slowing things down
  • Advise our procurement and tech teams on evolving AI policy and regulatory frameworks
  • Roll up your sleeves to draft, review and negotiate contracts with a privacy lens
  • Keep our privacy policies, data processes, and training fresh and practical
  • Spot changes in the law before they land on our doorstep and help us navigate them
  • Translate complex legal issues into plain English that makes sense to non-lawyers
  • Jump in on other commercial projects and deals when Naked needs you
Requirements
You are who we are looking for, if
  • You love wine
  • Ideally, you are UK-qualified (but if you're qualified elsewhere and pragmatic, we're listening)
  • You have 3-5 years of experience, working on data protection and privacy.
  • You have a sharp pen, and are fluent in English (written and spoken)
  • Bonus points if you have some in-house experience or experience counseling consumer good clients. Extra bonus points if you've thrived in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial setting
You will thrive here, if…
  • You are curious, adaptable and can translate a "no" into a "but what if"
  • You are comfortable with the messy, creative, unstructured nature of a company set out to disrupt an established industry
  • You're disciplined and love thinking strategically as much as putting structure in place to see strategy coming to life
  • You're practical, not preachy, and you're not afraid to say "I don't know, but I'll find out."
  • You're comfortable making judgment calls without endless precedent
  • You can hold your own with senior leaders, but you're just as happy coaching teammates
  • You have a strong sense of integrity and understand that how we deliver matters just as much as what we deliver
Why you'll love working with us

At Naked Wines, you'll be part of a company that's rewriting the rules of the wine world. We give winemakers the backing they need, and customers access to wines they can't find anywhere else. You'll get freedom, flexibility, and the chance to shape how our people function grows. And because we're a close-knit bunch, you'll see the impact of your work every day. And of course, wine.

Benefits
  • A competitive salary – we're very proud to be a Real Living Wage employer
  • 26 days holiday and bank holidays (you can buy or sell holiday too)
  • A £300 annual personal development budget – we're passionate about supporting people to follow their dreams inside or outside of Naked
  • £450 every year to treat yourself to some of our delicious wines…all in the name of research, of course
  • We want to do our bit for the community and give everyone paid leave to volunteer
  • We have Wellbeing Champions and access to mindfulness resources including the Headspace app
  • Enhanced parental leave
  • Honeymoon leave – newlyweds get an extra week of annual leave
  • We like to surprise and delight you with lovely thoughtful gifts including Naked Wine and lots more…
