  • Liaise with suppliers and process invoices.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns.
  • Assist the firm's accountant with statutory returns.

Job description

Brook Street Recruitment is working on behalf of our Belfast client who are currently recruiting for a full time and permanent Legal Bookkeeper.

Working closely with the Partners of the firm, you will be responsible for assisting with the smooth day-to-day running of a busy solicitor's firm's finance department.

Applicants are preferred to have worked in a legal setting but not essential as other bookkeepers will be considered - the ideal candidate will have a good understanding of invoicing, finance, book-keeping.

Responsibilities
  • Ensuring all finance records are up to date & accurate on the firm's finance system.
  • Accurate and timely processing and recording of incoming and outgoing payments
  • Receiving customer payments in person and over the telephone
  • Liaising with suppliers and payment of supplier invoices
  • Preparing and submitting VAT returns via legal accounts software
  • Liaising with the firm's accountant to assist in their preparation of statutory returns
Qualifications
  • Previous experience within a bookkeeping role is 100% essential
  • Good grasp of basic accounting standards and financial processes
  • Good communicator with the ability to work well in a team
  • Competent on Microsoft Office Suite
