Job Description:

About the Role:

We are seeking a committed, experienced, and motivated Supervising Senior Caseworker to join our specialist Immigration and newly formed Legal Aid team. This senior-level position plays a pivotal role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality legal services across our immigration practice. You will report directly to the Department Director and be responsible for managing your own complex immigration caseload while supervising, developing, and supporting a team of lawyers and caseworkers.

This role combines technical legal expertise, mentoring, and operational oversight. You will lead by example in providing Legal Aid and private immigration services—fostering a culture of continuous learning, compliance, and compassion aligned with our values.

About Us:

At BPA Immigration Lawyers, we are dedicated to ensuring access to justice for vulnerable individuals and families navigating the UK immigration system. As a growing firm with a strong ethical foundation, we have launched a dedicated Legal Aid department focused on delivering expert, compassionate, and high-quality advice and representation.

Joining as a Senior Caseworker with IAAS Supervisor status means more than casework — you’ll help shape the culture, standards, and direction of our Legal Aid services. You’ll supervise, manage legal risk, and contribute to life-changing client outcomes, supported by a collaborative team.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership and manage caseworkers, trainees, and solicitors.
  • Handle a portfolio of Legal Aid and private immigration cases, including:
  • Asylum, human rights, detention work; victims of trafficking and torture; entry clearance appeals, judicial reviews, and tribunal cases.
  • Oversee case allocation and capacity planning.
  • Prepare and manage Legal Aid funding applications and documentation.
  • Draft legal documents (witness statements, representations, bundles).
  • Attend conferences, hearings, and court as needed.
  • Deliver internal training, support supervision standards, and ensure legal quality.
  • Contribute to business development, networking, and marketing initiatives.

Key Skills Required:

  • Practicing Certificate (clean and valid) and IAAS Level 2 Senior Caseworker accreditation (required at application).
  • Proven supervisory experience and performance management skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of immigration, asylum, detention, and public law.
  • Strong understanding of Legal Aid funding, billing, and compliance.
  • Exceptional client care skills, especially with vulnerable clients.
  • Collaborative leadership style with a focus on training and mentoring.
  • Solid advocacy experience is advantageous.
  • Proficiency with IT and case management systems.
  • Experience with advocacy in immigration tribunals.
  • Experience in private client immigration and/or adoption matters.
  • Familiarity with internal audits, capacity reporting, and team performance monitoring.
