Job Title: Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer in Law (Leeds Campus)

Salary: £40,000 - £55,000 per annum (Based on experience and qualifications)

Position Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Law to join our expanding academic team. The post-holder will contribute to teaching, curriculum design, academic leadership, and scholarly activity within the discipline of Law. You will help shape an inspiring and inclusive student experience, ensuring that learning and assessment reflect the highest academic and professional standards. The post provides scope to lead curriculum development, innovate in teaching practice, and strengthen links with the legal and professional community in a supportive academic setting.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning:

  • Deliver engaging, inclusive and research-informed teaching across Law modules at undergraduate level.
  • Contribute to curriculum design and enhancement, ensuring alignment with awarding university standards and external quality frameworks.
  • Develop and update module materials, assessments and digital learning resources using Moodle, MS Teams or equivalent platforms.
  • Provide academic support, guidance and feedback to students, ensuring progression and success.
  • Engage in peer review and contribute to the continuous enhancement of teaching quality and the student learning experience.

Quality Enhancement:

  • Support the Dean and/or Programme Manager in leading curriculum development initiatives within the discipline area.
  • Take a lead role in programme or module management, ensuring effective delivery and assessment standards.
  • Contribute to internal quality assurance processes, including annual monitoring, moderation and self-assessment reporting.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to maintain compliance with OfS, QAA and partner university expectations.

Professional Practice and External Engagement:

  • Maintain an active professional presence within the legal and wider community, contributing to the visibility and reputation of William College.
  • Engage with professional bodies, practitioners and organisations to ensure teaching and curriculum content remain current and aligned with sector developments.
  • Support students’ professional development through mentoring, guest lectures, networking opportunities and exposure to real-world legal contexts.
  • Participate in College events, forums, and collaborative initiatives that strengthen partnerships and promote the applied relevance of legal education.
Person Specification

Essential:

  • A Masters degree (or equivalent) in Law or a closely related discipline.
  • A recognised teaching qualification (PGCHE, MA in HE Practice, or Fellowship of Advance HE).
  • Demonstrable experience teaching Law or related subjects at higher education level.
  • Experience in curriculum design, assessment and use of digital learning technologies (e.g. Moodle, MS Teams, or similar).
  • Evidence of professional practice or research-informed teaching.
  • Commitment to student-centered learning and equality, diversity and inclusion in higher education.

Desirable:

  • A doctoral qualification (PhD or equivalent professional doctorate).
  • Senior Fellowship of Advance HE (SFHEA) or willingness to achieve it within 12 months.
  • Record of publications, applied research or knowledge exchange in Law or related disciplines.
  • Professional legal practice experience or membership of a legal professional body.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.
