Role Outline

Boston University Study Abroad London is seeking a lecturer to teach a popular elective course in Political Economy as part of our Spring 2026 London Internship Programme for American study abroad students. Starting from 23rd February, teaching is for 9 weeks on Mondays (AM slot) amounting to 40 classroom contact hours in total, plus final exam coverage for the course, which concludes on Thursday 23rd April.

Elective B Monday classes are scheduled from 23rd February to 20th April. There are two irregular teaching dates on Tuesday 7th and 14th April. Additionally, 22nd April is reserved as a contingency teaching day, to be utilised if any lectures cannot be delivered as planned during the academic calendar.

This is a temporary appointment with the potential to be renewed.

Political Economy of the Middle East and North Africa

This course provides students with a theoretical and working knowledge of the role that brands and brand management plays in helping today’s organisations achieve their marketing and corporate goals, with a particular emphasis on business and marketing environments in the United Kingdom. The course investigates the origin and rationale for brands, explains how brands create value for consumers, organisations and society at large and introduces the concept of brand equity. Students will examine in detail and acquire working knowledge of the strategic brand management process involving the design and execution of marketing programmes to build, measure and manage brand equity.

Required Skills

The successful candidate will be a highly skilled, confident, and accomplished lecturer in Political Economy, with a proven track record in innovative, student-centred pedagogy. A PhD in a relevant discipline is required. Applicants should possess excellent cross-cultural communication skills and a strong record of undergraduate teaching, ideally with experience supporting international or Study Abroad students.
