What skills and experience we're looking for
  • 1 x Learning Support Assistant in Year 2 (26.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday)
  • 2 x Learning Support Assistants in Year 4 (26.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday)
  • 1 x Learning Support Assistant in Year 5 (15 hours per week, Monday to Friday)
  • 1 x Learning Support Assistant in Year 6 (26.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday)
Job Overview

Working as part of our teaching team, the learning support assistant role is based in the classroom working alongside the class TA and under the direction of the class teacher. You will be supporting a small group of children to access the curriculum by providing additional support – including explaining methods and helping them keep on track. This may involve some one-to-one activities as required throughout the course of the school day

On a daily basis, you will:
  • Assist students to follow behaviour and learning programmes.
  • Challenge and motivate students to promote self-esteem.
  • Provide support for students in a flexible manner on re‑integration to mainstream lessons.
  • Assist students to access their curriculum work.
  • Use clearly structured teaching and learning activities, to interest and motivate pupils and advance their learning.
  • Contribute to the preparation of teaching resources that meet the diversity of pupils’ needs and interests.
  • Monitor pupils’ responses to learning tasks and modify your approach accordingly.
  • Organise and manage safely the learning activities, the physical teaching space and resources for which responsibility has been assigned.
  • Build and maintain successful relationships with pupils, treat them consistently, with respect and consideration, and be concerned for their development as learners.
  • Work on the targets from the Education Health Care Plans.
