Salary: Grade 7, £25,783 - £28,762 per annum.

35 hours per week, term time working 38 weeks per year

We are seeking to appoint a Learning Mentor to provide high-quality pastoral support, working with children, families, and staff to remove barriers to learning and promote the wellbeing of pupils.

Responsibilities
  • Supporting the pastoral care function within school and contributing to pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Providing one-to-one mentoring and small-group sessions to improve confidence, self-esteem, and engagement.
  • Identifying and working with pupils who are vulnerable or at risk of underachievement, and developing tailored support plans.
  • Building positive and effective relationships with parents, carers, staff, and outside agencies to support pupil progress.
  • Leading attendance across school.
  • Supporting behaviour and inclusion.
  • Planning and delivering workshops, enrichment opportunities and community-based initiatives.
  • Contributing to safeguarding, child protection and the recording/monitoring of pupil welfare.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Experience of working with children and young people in an educational or pastoral setting.
  • An understanding of safeguarding, behaviour management and inclusion.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust and rapport.
  • Patience, empathy and resilience when working with children and families.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to work flexibly as part of a team.
  • A relevant Level 3/4 qualification (or equivalent experience).
