About Wentworth Woodhouse

Wentworth Woodhouse is one of the grandest historic houses in Europe – a Grade I listed mansion set within a spectacular landscape in South Yorkshire. Once a symbol of power and influence, today it is a place of creativity, learning and connection.

Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust is leading an ambitious programme of restoration, renewal and engagement, ensuring this remarkable place is relevant, accessible and inspiring for generations to come. Learning sits at the heart of our mission: we believe heritage and culture can be a powerful tool for creativity, confidence-building and social change.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Learning Manager to lead the development and delivery of high-quality, inclusive learning programmes at Wentworth Woodhouse.

This is a rare opportunity to shape learning at a nationally significant heritage site while leading an exciting, externally funded programme focused on SEND and SEMH learners. Working closely with artists, teachers and partners – including Grimm & Co and schools across Rotherham – you will co-design creative curricula, mentor practitioners and embed best practice in inclusive heritage learning.

Alongside this flagship programme, you will take a strategic lead on learning across the site, writing and implementing a Learning and Skills Strategy, refreshing our schools offer and helping to grow our reach with children, young people and communities.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead the delivery of a three-year Paul Hamlyn Foundation funded SEND and SEMH creative learning programme
  • Co-design innovative curricula and learning experiences with teachers, artists and pupils
  • Manage and support a mentoring programme for artists and teachers
  • Develop new SEND-focused learning programmes for both schools and onsite audiences
  • Write, implement and evaluate a Learning and Skills Strategy for Wentworth Woodhouse
  • Design and deliver inspiring formal learning sessions, workshops and school visits
  • Support informal, family and community learning programmes
  • Build strong relationships with schools, cultural partners and community groups
  • Monitor impact, report to funders and evaluate learning outcomes
  • Champion inclusive practice, safeguarding and high-quality learner experiences
Who We’re Looking For

You’ll be an experienced learning or education professional with a strong track record in programme development and delivery, ideally within museums, heritage or cultural settings. You will have:

  • Significant experience working with SEND and/or SEMH children and young people
  • Strong knowledge of the UK National Curriculum and creative learning approaches
  • Excellent communication, facilitation and relationship-building skills
  • Experience managing funded projects and meeting KPIs and deadlines
  • A passion for heritage, creativity and inclusive education

You’ll be organised, collaborative and confident working with a wide range of stakeholders – from teachers and artists to funders and senior colleagues – and motivated by the chance to make a genuine difference through learning.

Why Join Us?

This role offers the chance to:

  • Shape inclusive learning at one of the UK’s most important historic houses
  • Lead a high-profile, well-supported funded programme with strong partners
  • Work creatively with children, young people, teachers and artists
  • Be part of a values-driven organisation committed to access, relevance and social impact

If you are excited by the idea of using heritage as a platform for creativity, learning and inclusion, we would love to hear from you.
