An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Learning Leader to join our team at Queen Elizabeth & Staunton Country Park. Are you enthusiastic, creative and passionate about working with children in the great outdoors? We are offering the opportunity to become part of our friendly and supportive team, in two of Hampshire’s varied country parks.

The Education and Community team plays an important role delivering quality and engaging outdoor education to our visiting schools and families.

Staunton Country Park offers a deep connection to local history and horticultural connections as well as playing a vital role in connecting the local community to our green spaces. Queen Elizabeth Country is one of the largest country parks in Hampshire and sits within the South Downs National Park boasting amazing views and vast woodland for visitors to explore.

The Role

In this role, you will support the Education, Community & Events team by delivering high quality and engaging sessions for both visiting schools and families throughout the year. This will be in the form of outdoor based curriculum linked activities, forest school sessions, birthday parties, self-guided trails and seasonal events (including Halloween & Christmas). You’ll have the opportunity to be involved in community focused activities such as youth volunteers, supporting young people to gain experience within the outdoor sector.

What you’ll do
  • Prep and lead delivery on workshops for visiting schools, family groups and children.
  • Work collaboratively and plan with the team to create engaging activities both guided and self-guided (curriculum sessions, holiday activities, birthday parties).
  • Work collaboratively and assist in delivery of community focused activities such as youth volunteers.
  • Assist the whole team in delivering larger events. Work collaboratively with all teams including visitor services, ranger teams and volunteers.
  • Maintain awareness of curriculum trends in education.
  • Assist with general administration duties including school enquiries, bookings, record keeping and dealing with telephone enquiries.
  • Conduct face-to-face pre-visits with schools to plan an effective and enjoyable visit for schools.
  • Identify, prep and use appropriate resources to deliver high quality sessions to schools, families and volunteers.
What we’re looking for
  • Enthusiasm and motivation to work independently and as a team.
  • Work in the outdoors no matter the weather, season or terrain.
  • Previous experience working with children, schools or within the outdoor education sector.
  • Holds an education qualification or outdoor education qualification (e.g. forest school). Desirable but not essential.
  • A team player with excellent communication skills.
  • This role does include some weekend working. In some circumstances there will be an expectation to work bank holidays and evenings.
  • You will be required to travel to various locations within Hampshire and the Isle of Wight or other local authority, and it is essential that you have a current drivers’ licence and access to a reliable vehicle on a regular basis.

Our benefits package includes details of the holiday entitlement, pension scheme, flexi-time scheme, family-friendly policies and interest‑free travel loans and discounts. We offer a flexible, motivating and inclusive workplace. We have created an environment that you can look forward to being a part of, where you are empowered to be your best and a workplace built on teamwork where people can grow and develop in their roles.
