The organisation operates across community settings to provide more than 40 services to children, families and adults in Essex, Dorset, East Anglia and the North of England.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all medicines optimisation and pharmaceutical processes undertaken across Provide services are safe, effective and evidence based.
- Act as the Medication Safety Officer and Lead on medication safety
- Lead on Non-Medical Prescribing
- Support and advise on governance and risks associated with medicines governance and assurance
- Actively contribute to, and participate in, the provision and development of pharmaceutical services across Provide
- Participate as an active member of the Pharmacy and Medicines team and support the safe and effective use of medicines across Provide services
- Provide clinical pharmacy advice and support on the management of patients within our care to maximise benefit and minimise risk in relation to medicines
- Support the development of patient pathways and redesign to ensure effective processes are adapted in relation to medicines optimisation
- Deputise for the Head of Medicines Management as required
- Support and participate in clinical research and audit
- Develop and maintain medicines governance, assurance and related policies and training
- Work with governance leads to monitor and report on non-medical prescribing data within the NMP Scope of Practice and cost effectiveness, aligned with local formularies and guidance

Professional responsibilities and activity areas
- Analytical and judgement: identify pharmaceutical needs through data analysis, evidence-based practice and option assessment; monitor non-medical prescribing data and ensure cost effectiveness
- Planning and organisation: coordinate the Medicines Management work programme, drive innovation and service redesign, ensure KPIs are met
- Patient and client care: provide specialised pharmaceutical advice and medicines reconciliation; support compliance with prescribing standards; develop medicines optimisation training; manage medicines policies, audits and training
- Policy and service: interpret guidance and develop policies; implement alerts and governance for controlled drugs; deputy chair Medicines Governance and Safety Group
- Human resources: develop training and competency tools for new and ongoing roles in community care
- Research and development: lead medicines management audits, data collection, and contribute to research projects
- Freedom to act: interpret guidance, develop strategy and lead implementation of national guidance, NICE guidelines and local prescribing
- Additional duties: mandatory training, staff appraisal participation, policy updates, cross-organisational collaboration
