Lead Electrical Design Engineer
Based in Filton - Hybrid working (approx. 60% onsite)
What you'll be doing
- Leading the full electrical design of a new avionic control bench
- Developing electrical schematics, technical drawings and specifications
- Contributing to the overall system architecture
- Managing design risks and major engineering milestones (FCR, PDR, FDR, CDR)
- Supporting and overseeing assembly, build, and integration activities
- Leading the Validation & Verification phase
- Ensuring successful entry into service
- Working closely with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to meet time, cost and quality targets
What you'll bring
- Strong background in electrical design and architecture
- Experience working with design tools such as AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical or KiCad
- Understanding of electrical systems, testing principles, and instrumentation
- Knowledge of avionic hardware interfaces (analogue, discrete)
- Familiarity with avionic data buses (A429, CAN, AFDX)
- Experience with control systems and data acquisition
- A collaborative mindset, adaptability, and strong communication skills
- Aviation or landing‑gear‑related experience is beneficial but not essential. Transferable engineering experience from other sectors is welcomed.
Contract details
- Hourly rate: £37.38 (PAYE) / £50.00 (Umbrella)
- Hours: 35 per week across 4.5 days (between 7am-7pm)
- Clearance: BPSS+ (completed by Airbus Security)
- IR35 status: Inside IR35
- Travel: Occasional
