Lead Advanced Clinical Communication Skills Facilitator, Band 7 (15 hours a week)

Applications are invited for this exciting post to develop and deliver Advanced Clinical Communication Skills Training (ACCST) and associated training for clinicians.

The proposed interview date is 6th February

Main duties of the job

Applicants must demonstrate extensive experience of this training model and have a background of clinical practice and education. The ability and enthusiasm to train and to mentor new facilitators and to understand and evaluate the impact of training are also essential.

About us

The successful applicant will be based within the palliative care team but work closely with colleagues across the Trust including those in education. The team has close collaborative relationships with colleagues across Gloucestershire including in the community and in the hospices.

Job responsibilities

The role involves delivery of ACCST and associated courses to clinicians, training and mentorship of facilitators, quality assurance of the training packages, development of the ACCST training and associated training, development of a package of mechanisms to evaluate the impact of the training, identification of and application to additional funding streams to support the training.

Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council with experience of clinical practice at a senior level in relevant specialities, e.g. palliative care
  • Postgraduate study to Masters level of equivalent
Experience
  • Appropriately trained in advanced communication skills facilitation e.g. through Maguire Communication Skills Training Unit, with experience of delivering courses.
  • Evidence of postgraduate study in clinical education and extensive experience of developing, delivering and evaluating education packages.
  • Understanding of the local health system and system partners and insight into the various clinical roles across the health system including 3rd sector organisations
Skills
  • Ability to facilitate change, motivating and influencing staff over whom no management relationship exists
  • Demonstrate the ability to identify personal development needs, fulfil them and apply the learning to practice with demonstrable outcome
  • Excellent planning and organisation skills
  • Ability to apply effective leadership skills, responsive to a variety of circumstances
  • Computer literacy with ability to use email, internet, Word, electronic records and literature searching
  • Experience in taking part in research
