Overview

The position of Laboratory Analyst is within our Rapid Diagnostics laboratory located at Abingdon, Oxfordshire. The Laboratory Analyst will undertake operations within the screening and confirmation departments. The analysis of drugs of abuse in biological samples is conducted by either immunoassay (CEDIA, HEIA and ELISA) or by confirmatory techniques (such as LC/MS/MS), or by a combination of both.

Responsibilities

• Train in all screening and confirmation processes, and maintain relevant competencies to perform all tasks within these areas.
• Extract drugs from oral fluid and hair samples (SPE/LLE) and related tasks such as setting up batches on instruments, checking sequences, storing and disposing of samples.
• Screen oral fluid samples by CEDIA/HEIA/ELISA and prepare daily screening quality controls and reagents.
• Prepare laboratory solutions.
• Set up instruments and run system suitability checks (SSTs).
• Carry out daily, weekly and monthly equipment checks and routine maintenance and complete associated equipment records.
• Maintain safe and efficient working practices in the laboratory to ensure conformity to relevant health and safety and quality standards (ISO 17025).
