Job Title: Labourer

Location: Openshaw - Manchester
Contract Type: Temporary (Initially 6-8 Weeks)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, Day Shifts (e.g., (phone number removed)pm Monday-Thursday and 7.30-1pm Friday
Reporting To: Site Supervisor / Production Manager

Job Overview:

We are currently recruiting for a Labourer to support a busy manufacturing environment on an initial 6-8 week assignment who has experience of operating overhead/bridge cranes. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with overhead cranes, hand tools, and basic fitting and assembly work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate overhead cranes to safely move heavy components and materials
  • Assist with mechanical fitting and basic assembly tasks as directed
  • Use hand tools (e.g., spanners, screwdrivers, drills) to support production and maintenance activities
  • Carry out general labouring dutie
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment
  • Follow all health and safety procedures and report any hazards or incidents

Candidate Requirements:

  • Essential:
    • Experience operating overhead cranes in a workshop or manufacturing setting
    • Confident using a range of hand tools
    • Basic mechanical fitting or assembly experience
    • Physically fit and capable of manual handling tasks
    • Strong work ethic and ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Desirable:
    • Overhead crane certification
    • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment
