Job summary

A pharmaceutical company in Hitchin seeks a full-time Laboratory Technician to support the QC team with daily tasks. Responsibilities include adhering to lab safety regulations, participating in training programs, testing water and effluent, managing lab samples, and performing regular monitoring and reporting. Role Description

This is a full-time role for a Laboratory Technician based on-site in Hitchin. Operating as part of a multi-skilled team, to support the QC team with day to day tasks. Accurate and efficient processing of workload and to perform any other tasks assigned by the QC Manager.

Key Tasks
  • Adhering to Regulations and laboratory policies regarding health and safety and to maintain a clean hygienic working environment
  • Participate in training program and undergoing further training as required and participating in schemes to ensure on-going competence.
  • Testing of site water in line with documented procedures.
  • Testing of Effluent using Gas Chromatography (full training provided) and other documented procedures.
  • Coordinating the collection, handling and storage of samples received into the laboratory according to documented procedures including booking of samples on LIMS and generating the required documentation.
  • Monitoring and sorting retention samples for long term storage on site.
  • Participation in 5S and continuous improvement projects.
  • Daily temperature monitoring and Reporting in the laboratory.
  • Purchasing of lab consumables and reagents in line with monthly budget including stock control within the laboratory. Booking in and correct storage of bought in chemicals.
  • Calibration/ maintenance of appropriate Laboratory Equipment.
  • Removing expired reagents and placing on order as appropriate.
  • Cleaning (where required) and handling of laboratory glassware and equipment.
  • Participation in H&S audits.
  • General filing.
  • Any other duties as defined by the QC manager.
Education and Experience
  • Previous experience within quality control in a GMP manufacturing facility is advantageous but is not required.
  • Educated to a good general standard including, English, Mathematics and Science.
  • Knowledge of COSHH and SAGE or other systems are advantageous but are not essential as full training will be provided.
