Job description

The Key Account Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the long‑term success and satisfaction of Renewable Exchange’s generator clients. Sitting within the Commercial function, this role will focus on managing a portfolio of key accounts- primarily mid‑sized generators, ensuring renewals, identifying growth opportunities, and delivering a high‑quality client experience.

As part of a collaborative and growing commercial team, this individual will contribute directly to retention and expansion targets, whilst potentially supporting junior colleagues or taking on line management responsibilities as the team evolves. The role is well‑suited to someone who combines commercial acumen with relationship‑building strengths and is motivated by helping clients unlock value from a digital platform. Experience within a business that manages annual renewal cycles is a distinct advantage.

Tasks

Key Responsibilities

Client Relationship Management & Retention

  • Own and manage a portfolio of key generator accounts across our Investor Led clients, ensuring timely renewals and ongoing client satisfaction.
  • Act as the main point of contact for these clients, delivering consultative support throughout their PPA journey.
  • Tailor engagement strategies to client needs—ensuring high‑quality touchpoints via calls, meetings, and platform interactions.
  • Monitor account health using CRM tools and proactively identify any risks or churn signals.

Renewal Strategy Execution

  • Work in close coordination with the Head of Client Success to plan and deliver successful client renewals.
  • Maintain visibility of renewal timelines and work with internal teams to bring forward renewal decisions wherever it makes sense for the client.
  • Execute strategy to deliver long‑term value to clients through partnership agreements.
  • Leverage product expertise to ensure clients extract maximum ROI and long‑term value from the platform.

Offtaker Engagement

  • Coordinate timely bid communications, updates, and responses to offtaker queries where required.
  • Support delivery of a smooth and reliable offtaker experience alongside the broader team.

Internal Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with Sales, Marketing, and Technology teams to ensure a joined‑up approach to client engagement.
  • Support improvements in client onboarding, lifecycle communications, and service delivery by providing feedback and insights.
  • Input into process improvements and CRM usage (HubSpot), helping to optimise how client data is tracked and used.

Commercial Growth & Account Development

  • Identify upsell and cross‑sell opportunities within existing accounts, partnering with Sales or Strategic Accounts as appropriate.
  • Champion Renewable Exchange’s services and insights to deepen client engagement and drive repeat business.
  • Actively contribute to client segmentation and prioritisation discussions with the wider Client Success and Commercial teams.
Requirements

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in account management, client success, business development or commercial operations ideally in a B2B environment.
  • Excellent relationship‑building and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Comfortable acting as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational ability and attention to detail – able to manage multiple client priorities at once.
  • Comfortable using CRM systems (preferably HubSpot) to manage pipelines and client data.
  • Motivated by client outcomes, renewals, and commercial impact.
  • Collaborative team player with a proactive, solutions‑focused approach.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience in the energy, renewables, or tech/SaaS sector.
  • Understanding of PPAs, renewable asset ownership or energy markets is advantageous but not essential.
  • Experience working in a fast‑paced, scale‑up environment.
