Overview

Junior Transport Manager role for a major company. This is a full-time, permanent position based in Newry.

Salary: Negotiable + fantastic benefits package.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, review, and optimise delivery routes with a focus on cost and service quality.
  • Manage driver rotas 4 weeks ahead, ensuring full coverage and effective absence planning.
  • Monitor driver performance, including working hours, safety, uniforms, and debriefs.
  • Oversee fleet tracking and share live delivery updates with customer service.
  • Ensure daily vehicle checks and logbooks are completed; carry out regular audits.
  • Coordinate vehicle servicing, fridge repairs, and maintain up-to-date certifications.
  • Track mileage, servicing, tax, and insurance using the fleet spreadsheet.
  • Monitor fuel usage weekly; manage fuel cards and key returns.
  • Induct new drivers and maintain licence checks and a skills matrix for shift planning.
  • Report regularly to senior management on financials, efficiency, and team performance.
  • Lead and support the team across all people management areas.
  • Promote a strong health & safety culture and maintain audit readiness.
  • Ensure smooth handovers between day and night teams.
