Role Overview

We are looking for a talented and driven Junior Sous Chef – Pastry to join our main hotel kitchen team. In this role, you will support the Head Pastry Chef in delivering a consistently exceptional standard of desserts, breads, and baked goods across all areas of the hotel – including restaurant service, afternoon teas, events, weddings, and banqueting.

Main Responsibilities
  • Support the Head Pastry Chef in managing the daily operations of the pastry section.
  • Prepare, cook, and present a variety of desserts, baked goods, and pastry items to a consistently high standard.
  • Assist in the development and execution of pastry menus for restaurant service, functions, weddings, and afternoon tea.
  • Maintain a clean and organised pastry section, ensuring food safety and hygiene standards are upheld at all times.
  • Train and guide junior pastry chefs and commis chefs, supporting their development through hands‑on mentoring.
  • Ensure efficient mise en place, stock rotation, and waste control.
  • Take charge of the pastry kitchen in the absence of the Head Pastry Chef, maintaining quality, organisation, and communication.
  • Collaborate with other kitchen sections and front‑of‑house teams to ensure smooth service and consistency across all departments.
  • Contribute to menu innovation, bringing forward fresh, seasonal, and trend‑led ideas.

Essential
  • At least 2 years as a Chef de Partie or Junior Sous Chef in a high‑quality establishment.
