This job is designed for someone who is committed to both Emergency Medicine and developing their portfolio in a particular area of interest. The successful candidate will be given a timetable that covers clinical duties on the shop floor and SPA time set aside to work on a portfolio of activities in relation to their topic of interest.
In this new world portfolio careers are becoming increasingly attractive both for the clinician as well as for the multidisciplinary team they work within, bringing new skills and expertise that they can share with others. We pride ourselves on the close working between our Northwick Park and Ealing EDs and, with this in mind, we will expect the Junior Clinical Fellow to support the sharing of learning and standardisation of processes and guidelines on both sites.

The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of the care of patients in the Emergency Department at Northwick Park Hospital or Ealing Hospital, having pre‑agreed a base site to work at in a clinical capacity. They will have direct responsibility for the management of patients.

The successful candidate will be allocated a Consultant Supervisor who will work alongside the Fellow to support them over the 12 months to achieve their personal goals including development of an online portfolio and their own professional development plan. The Fellow will be expected to undertake a structured appraisal at the end of the year which will support future revalidation processes. The ED Consultant body will also support networking for the Fellow with key representatives within the Trust in that area of interest. This will support the fostering of links between the ED team and external specialties that is key to running supportive and efficient Urgent and Emergency Care pathways.
