Job summary

A major NHS Foundation Trust in London seeks a Junior Clinical Fellow in Respiratory Medicine for a 9-month post comprised of clinical rotations. The role offers exposure to diverse areas such as asthma and cystic fibrosis, while maintaining access to Internal Medicine Training. Candidates must hold Full GMC Registration and have completed a UK medical Foundation Programme. Qualifications

  • Must have undertaken work in NHS in medical specialties equivalent to completion of the Foundation Programme.
  • Previous contribution to audit and research in relevant field.

Responsibilities

  • Doctors will access the full programme of Internal Medicine Training teaching including weekly teaching.
  • Encouraged to maintain an equivalent portfolio to demonstrate experience equivalent to one year of IMT programme.

Junior Clinical Fellow in Respiratory Medicine

The closing date is 05 January 2026

This is an innovative post rotating through clinical departments giving a broad exposure to medicine mirroring the Internal Medicine Training Programme.

This is a standalone 9-month post of 3 clinical rotations in respiratory medicine and is structured and administered as per the internal medicine training programme. These posts are at junior clinical fellow level equivalent to IMT1-2. For this reason, applicants must have undertaken work in the NHS in medical specialties prior to application. This must be equivalent to completion of the Foundation Programme and ideally additional work in a medical specialty at 'FY3/junior clinical fellow' level post Foundation competency sign off.

Role may close early if a sufficient number of applications have been received.

Main duties of the job

The posts rotate through a combination of 1 post per 9 months of the programme:

  • Asthma (3 months)
  • Airways (3 months)
  • Cystic fibrosis (3 months)
  • Host Defence (3 months)
  • Sleep & Ventilation (3 months)

Job responsibilities

Doctors in this post will have access to the full programme of Internal Medicine Training teaching, including weekly teaching and skills and simulation teaching. You will be encouraged to maintain an equivalent portfolio which could be used to demonstrate experience equivalent to one year of the IMT programme.

Education/Qualifications
  • Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice at the time of application.
  • MRCP Part 1
  • Advanced Life Support certification
  • Wish to train in a group 1 or group 2 medical specialty
  • Successful completion of a UK medical Foundation Programme (or equivalent)
  • Prior NHS experience working at FY2 or junior clinical fellow level in a medical specialty.
  • Previous experience at FY3/JCF level in a relevant medical specialty
  • Previous experience in ED
  • Previous experience in ICU
  • Previous contribution to audit
