Responsibilities
  • Care and welfare of dogs kennelled at the DTC, including general dog related welfare and husbandry tasks.
  • Run and maintain the dog section stores, including ordering of food, cleaning equipment, essential handler equipment and tools needed to maintain the DTC.
  • Maintain DTC kennels to a pristine standard; ensuring all kennels, feeding and bedding are regularly cleaned, disinfected and replaced when necessary, and keeping the DTC and its training facilities free of dirt, mess and weeds.
  • Organise the sourcing and collection of new pups to the JOU from independent breeders, and manage the Puppy Socialiser Scheme, recording puppy procurement and development.
  • Work standard office hours with occasional weekend working, compensated accordingly.
Qualifications
  • Full Driving Licence.
  • Educated to QCF Level 2 or have undertaken work experience deemed comparable.
  • Experience of working in an animal welfare related role.
  • Proven experience of undertaking maintenance duties and associated health and safety checks.
  • Ability to answer competency based questions during the application process.
Working Conditions and Requirements
  • Must hold a current manual driver’s licence and be prepared to take and pass a force driving course if required.
  • Role may require visiting various locations within Thames Valley, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
  • Flexible working arrangements are available on a full time, part time or flexible basis.
