At the heart of this mission is the REV Ocean vessel, a state-of-the-art research platform dedicated to ocean exploration, scientific discovery, and advancing solutions for ocean sustainability.

The Vessel REV Ocean is unlike any other ship. It is equipped with some of the most sophisticated facilities onboard for carrying out cutting-edge ocean science, as well as offering charter opportunities designed to integrate exploration, adventure, and science. REV Ocean will operate as a research vessel for 2/3 of the year and be available for charters for 1/3 of the year.

We are seeking a technically skilled and proactive ITO/ETO to join the REV Ocean team. While the role encompasses responsibilities for onboard IT systems and electrical/electronic infrastructure, the primary focus through the end of 2026 will be supporting the final outfitting phase of the REV Ocean vessel. During this period, the ITO/ETO will serve as the key project lead and point of contact for the AV/IT system installation contractor, ensuring successful integration, testing, and commissioning of all related systems.

  • Joining Date: December/2025
  • Wage: TBD
  • Contract Length: 1 months on/off
  • ETO Certificate is mandatory - STCW Reg.III/6

Qualifications & Experience

  • STCW Basic Safety Training (mandatory)
  • ETO CoC or equivalent recognised electrical certification
  • Relevant IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA, Cisco, Microsoft) preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with AV/IT systems in a maritime setting
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as ITO
  • Familiarity with marine electrical and automation systems, including high-voltage safety
  • Project management experience from ship new building is highly desirable
  • Strong analytical and documentation capabilities

Key Responsibilities

Project & Outfitting Responsibilities

  • Act as project lead and liaison for the AV/IT contractor during the final outfitting phase.
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and commissioning of all AV/IT systems onboard.
  • Coordinate technical requirements with internal teams and vendors.
  • Review system designs, ensure compliance with technical and operational needs, and participate in system acceptance tests.
  • Track progress, address issues proactively, and ensure timely delivery and quality assurance of AV/IT installations.

Ongoing IT & AV Duties

  • Manage onboard networks (LAN/Wi-Fi), servers, and communication systems (VSAT, Starlink, 5G, etc.).
  • Maintain and support guest and crew entertainment and AV platforms.
  • Work closely with IT service provider to ensure security and systems availability.
  • Provide day-to-day tech support for crew, guests, and scientific operations.

Electrical & Technical Duties

  • Maintain and repair electrical infrastructure including switchboards, power distribution, HVAC, and lighting systems.
  • Support bridge systems such as ECDIS, radar, and GPS.
  • Assist with electronic systems in the engine room and automation.
  • Monitor and service UPS systems, battery banks, and emergency power systems.
