Overview

Locations: Central Hub Brunswick Square, North Greenway Community Centre, South Symes Community Centre. The IPS team manager will be assigned to one of the above hubs but expected to work across all Bristol premises as required. This is an exciting opportunity to join Horizons, our new Bristol service, to set up a specialist employment team using the Individual Placement & Support (IPS) model. The service is a vibrant partnership delivering substance use treatment and recovery services across Bristol. Turning Point has partnered with Bristol Drugs Project to provide local expertise while championing a fresh approach, alongside seven other local and national providers: The Nelson Trust, Hawkspring, One 25, Southmead Development Trust, Southmead Project, Wellspring Settlement, and Release. Our partnership draws on decades of experience delivering substance use services in Bristol and nationally, with specialist knowledge of diverse local communities."

Role

As an IPS Team Manager in the Horizons Bristol service, you will lead a team of employment specialists with caseloads of substance-using clients in treatment who would like help to find employment. You will have experience in delivering specialist employment services and a passion for making a difference to the lives of the people we support. You will work closely with other managers and staff across the Horizons service and the wider Bristol substance use system to ensure the IPS service is fully integrated and receives necessary referrals volume. Partnership working and building/maintaining excellent relationships with local organisations and employers will be important in your day-to-day work.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of employment specialists with caseloads of clients in treatment seeking employment.
  • Deliver specialist employment services and contribute to achieving individual and team objectives.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with local organisations and employers to support the team’s work.
  • Collaborate with internal managers and staff to ensure IPS integration across the Horizons service.
Essential Requirements
  • Proven track record in delivery of employment services
  • In-depth knowledge of IPS service delivery
  • Experience of supervising a team or, if new to management, supporting, mentoring or coaching colleagues/volunteers
  • Experience of working towards achieving individual and team objectives
  • Numeracy, literacy and IT skills
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication to different audiences
  • Good time management and ability to meet deadlines
  • A participative leadership and management style
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the complex and multiple disadvantages faced by people using substances
  • A demonstrable commitment to a values-led approach to working with service users with a substance use issue
