Overview
The Inzpire Ltd Mission Systems Team designs, develops and delivers some of the world's most advanced aviation mission planning, mission management and Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) systems from within our office in Lincoln. As a result of our continued success and business expansion we are delighted to offer an opportunity for a Safety Engineering Manager to join our award-winning team and support the on-going development of our bespoke mission systems. The post is primarily based in Lincoln but may require occasional travel to other sites within the UK. We are a defence and technology company recognised with multiple awards and accreditations, including Employer of the Year at the British Ex-Forces in Business Awards 2023 and Queen's Awards for Enterprise in Innovation. Our central head office is west of Lincoln, with the mission systems team and specialist operations embedded with Defence customers.
Responsibilities
- Providing leadership and guidance to members of the MSN Safety Team.
- Supporting the personal development of members of the MSN Safety Team.
- Managing Safety Team resource to ensure effective support is provided to meet product development and project requirements.
- Assuring the quality of MSN safety-related deliverables.
- Maintaining and developing MSN safety process and procedure in concert with MSN Head of Technical.
- Representing Inzpire within high-profile safety forums, including customer forums, where competence and accountability will be expected.
- Maintaining the cohesion and engagement of the MSN Safety Team and remaining current in the field of safety-critical systems engineering.
- Collaborating with stakeholders and offering suggestions to improve the MSN Safety Management System.
Qualifications
- A degree in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g. Safety-Critical Systems Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electronic Engineering or Software Engineering).
- A minimum of 5 years\' relevant experience in a related sector (e.g. military air or civil air).
Experience and Skills (Essential)
- Experience of managing a team, ideally a team of safety-related professionals.
- Experience of software- and safety-related standards such as RTCA DO-178C, RTCA DO-200B (ED-76A) and Def Stan 00-056.
- Experience of demonstrating the functional safety of complex systems.
- Experience with safety engineering tools and techniques, e.g. safety cases using Goal-Structuring Notation (GSN) or Claims-Argument-Evidence (CAE); Functional Failure Analysis (FFA); FMEA/FMECA; system hazard log development and management; and producing System Safety Assessment Reports.
Desirable
- Knowledge of Military Aviation Authority Regulatory Publications.
- Experience of demonstrating functional safety within civil or military air sectors and in software-intensive systems.
- Experience of aviation mission planning systems and electronic flight bag applications/standards.
- Experience of aircraft integration requirements and challenges; stakeholder management within the Defence Air Environment.
Location
The post is primarily based in Lincoln but may require travel to other sites within the UK. A full UK Driver's Licence is essential. National Security Vetting may be required and candidates must be UK nationals with a minimum 5 years UK residency.
