Interim Data & Modelling Analyst - Local Area Energy Plan

Working directly with a Local Authority | Fully remote (occasional monthly meeting)

£450 per day (Umbrella, Inside IR35)

Duration: December 2025 - March 2026 (Part-time from December, or full-time from January)

Overview

Our local authority client is mid-way through developing their Local Area Energy Plan (LAEP) and is seeking additional analytical support to progress the modelling and scenario development stages. This role will provide extra resource capacity within the sustainability and energy team, contributing to the interpretation of data, GIS modelling, and creation of evidence-based energy scenarios.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the ongoing development of the Local Area Energy Plan through data analysis, modelling, and scenario testing.
  • Work with baseline energy data and geospatial (GIS) datasets to model potential future energy pathways.
  • Interpret and present data in a clear and meaningful way to inform decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and the existing Energy Programme Manager to align outputs with project goals.
  • Contribute to written reports and summaries to support funding, planning, and policy workstreams.
About You
  • UK Resident
  • Minimum 3 years working within a local authority setting.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience in data modelling, interpretation, and scenario development.
  • Familiarity with GIS tools, spatial datasets, or energy modelling software.
  • Previous experience in decarbonisation, energy planning, or sustainability projects within the public sector or housing sector preferred.
  • Comfortable working independently and remotely, with excellent communication and reporting skills.
  • No formal qualifications required - emphasis is on relevant experience and technical ability.
