A local council in England is seeking an experienced Corporate Information Governance Officer to join their Information Governance Team. This role involves researching and applying complex legislation on Data Protection and Freedom of Information, managing public information requests, and delivering training on compliance. Candidates should have an Information Governance qualification or equivalent experience. We currently have a rare and exciting opportunity for an experienced Corporate Information Governance Officer to join our small and friendly Information Governance (IG) Team. We pride ourselves on providing high quality support to employees of the Council, Solihull Community Housing and Schools in all matters relating to Information Governance.
Specifically, within this critical role, you will research, interpret and apply a range of complex IG legislation relating to Data Protection, Freedom of Information, Environmental Information Regulations, Records Management, and Information Security. You will provide advice and guidance, supporting employees at all levels to understand and appropriately apply the legislation, various standards and official guidance, ensuring they remain legally compliant.
Other duties include managing information requests made by members of the public under the Freedom of Information Act, Environmental Information Regulations and subject access requests made under Data Protection legislation. You will also assess and advise on information risks, completing data protection impact assessments and investigating data breaches.
You will need an Information Governance qualification in Data Protection or Freedom of Information, or the ability to demonstrate equivalent knowledge gained through extended relevant experience.

As well as bringing your own knowledge and experience to the IG Team, you will benefit from working alongside other experienced IG Officers, a Records Manager and Information Governance Manager, who will always be available to offer support or to bounce ideas off.
We recognise that work is what you do and not necessarily where you go. Therefore, we offer the opportunity to work from home for part of the week, with a requirement to work part of the week in our conveniently located offices in Solihull town centre.
