Overview

Role: Industry Placement Assessor - Early Years and Healthcare - Maternity Cover

Location: Tresham College - Kettering, Corby and Wellingborough campuses

Salary/Benefits: Salary between £28,325 and £33,231 per annum (Pro-Rata) DOE and Qualifications, 27 days annual leave (Pro-Rata) plus Bank holidays, People's pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

Hours/Weeks: 29.6 hours per week - 52 weeks per year

Contract Type: Fixed Term - Part Time - Fixed until 31 December 2026

About the role

We are currently seeking an Industry Placement Assessor in Early Years and Healthcare to join our Health, Social Care and Childcare department at The Bedford College Group.

  • Work Placement Coordination - Implement TBCG's Work Experience policy, source high-quality placements, and maintain accurate records using Grofar.
  • Employer Engagement & Collaboration - Build strong relationships with employers and stakeholders, support Employer Advisory Boards, and work with internal teams to deliver careers plans.
  • Student Support & Assessment - Guide students through placements and assessments, conduct observations, provide feedback, and ensure awarding body standards are met.
  • Quality Assurance & Compliance - Monitor attendance, progress, and assessment outcomes; contribute to standardisation and ensure adherence to college and regulatory policies.
  • Safeguarding & Continuous Improvement - Promote safeguarding, equality, and health & safety; engage in training and development; and contribute to innovative practices in placement delivery.
About you
  • Qualifications & Experience - Level 4 qualification in Early Years (or equivalent), TAQA assessor qualification, GCSEs in Maths and English (A-C), and proven experience in training or assessing learners.
  • Technical & Sector Knowledge - Up-to-date understanding of Early Years developments, experience with Microsoft Office and tracking systems, and ability to promote equality and diversity.
  • Professional Skills & Attributes - Highly organised, self-motivated, strong interpersonal skills, and ability to work independently or as part of a team while supporting high-quality learning experiences.
  • Values & Representation - Demonstrates alignment with College values (Student Centred, Educational Excellence, Teamwork, etc.), promotes the College's reputation, and builds effective partnerships with employers and stakeholders.
  • Commitment & Compliance - Holds a valid driving licence, committed to CPD, aware of health and safety requirements, and upholds safeguarding and professional boundaries with students.
