Industrial Engineer
Location: Slough, United Kingdom
Salary: £74,000 – £89,000 (depending on experience), plus annual bonus, car allowance, and benefits

The role of Industrial Engineer (IE) is a vital one within Mars' Supply operations.

The IE challenges the business to elevate performance and identifies opportunities for significant improvements through network optimisation, utilisation balancing, and capital investment planning.

As part of the IE and Supply Excellence department, the IE also contributes to shaping the factory of the future—a transformational programme aimed at positioning the factory as a digital leader in the region.

What are we looking for?
  • Higher education, preferably in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Finance, or Economics
  • Proven analytical capability and experience in change management
  • Knowledge of manufacturing technologies and pipeline practices
  • Strong efficiency management skills
  • Project management and analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills enabling effective communication and influence at all organisational levels; open to change and input from a diverse workforce
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
What will be your key responsibilities?
  • Plan and establish sequences of operations for part or product fabrication and assembly to support efficient utilisation
  • Review production schedules, engineering specifications, orders, and related data to understand manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities
  • Estimate production costs, identify cost‑saving opportunities, and assess the impact of product design changes for management evaluation and control
  • Draft and design layouts for equipment, materials, and workspaces to maximise efficiency using drafting tools and digital design software
  • Coordinate and implement quality control objectives, activities, and procedures to resolve production issues, maximise product reliability, and minimise costs
  • Proactively develop and maintain improvement roadmaps
  • Lead investment projects through the investment request phase before handing them over to a project leader
  • Follow up and guide improvement initiatives driven by value stream governance
  • Manage capital investment oversight for the factory’s investment agenda
  • Manage the factory’s small/minor investments budget
  • Participate in the Sustainable in a Generation roadmap
  • Be a proactive and trusted member of the IE & Supply Excellence team, collaborating with passion to drive the factory to the next level
