Independent Living Support Worker| £27,054 | Southend-on-Sea | 37 hours 12 Month Contract

The Role

We’re looking for a Tenancy Support Worker to help residents settle confidently into their new homes and build independence. You’ll prepare properties for move‑in, assist with belongings, and teach everyday skills like meter readings, cleaning routines, and basic maintenance. Working closely with landlords and professionals, you’ll spot issues early to keep tenancies stable and empower residents through trauma‑informed, strengths‑based practice.

You’ll need experience supporting vulnerable people, safeguarding knowledge, and practical problem‑solving skills. Empathy, patience, and confidence in teaching household skills are essential. This is a rewarding role where you’ll make a real difference in helping people achieve lasting independence.

Job Requirements
  • Help residents set up their new homes – assembling furniture, installing essentials, carrying out safety checks, and ensuring properties are move‑in ready.
  • Provide hands‑on support during move‑in – helping residents move belongings and settle confidently into their tenancy.
  • Teach practical independent living skills – from meter readings and cleaning routines to organising belongings and basic home maintenance.
  • Work closely with landlords and other professionals to ensure tenancies start strong and stay stable.
  • Support early tenancy sustainment – spotting issues before they escalate and preventing unnecessary breakdowns.
  • Build trust and empower people through trauma‑informed, strengths‑based practice.
What You’ll Need
  • Experience supporting vulnerable people, good problem‑solving skills, and a strong understanding of safeguarding.
  • Knowledge of homelessness, PRS housing, and basic repairs/furniture assembly.

Additional Requirements
  • Enhanced DBS check.
  • Ability to work evenings or weekends where necessary.
  • Full driving licence (if required by the service).
