HVAC Mechanical Estimator

Role Overview
An established HVAC business is looking to appoint an experienced HVAC Mechanical Estimator to support its sales and pre-construction function. The role will focus on estimating mechanical HVAC packages across two core divisions, ranging from small works (£0-£500k) through to major projects (£500k-£4M).
You will work closely with the sales team, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to deliver accurate, competitive mechanical estimates across a variety of HVAC systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately interpret drawings, specifications, and schedules to fully understand project requirements
- Carry out detailed mechanical take-offs for HVAC systems, including materials and labour
- Prepare and build full mechanical estimates for projects up to £4M
- Request, coordinate, and assess supplier and subcontractor quotations
- Review designs, compare specifications, and identify risks or discrepancies within tenders
- Liaise with internal departments to support the tender and bid process
- Build and maintain strong client relationships and support negotiations where required
- Produce compliant estimating documentation in line with internal templates and systems
Essential Requirements (Non‑Negotiable)
- Proven experience in HVAC mechanical estimating within the UK
- Strong technical knowledge of UK mechanical services and building standards
- Solid understanding of HVAC systems including air conditioning, ventilation, plumbing, and controls
- Confident working across multiple tenders simultaneously
- Strong Excel skills and experience using Microsoft Word and standard office systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to produce documentation to required internal standards using set templates

- Experience using mechanical estimating software
