Job summary

A design and build consultancy in Greater Manchester seeks an HVAC Design Engineer. This role involves producing mechanical designs from concept to detailed across all stages, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have strong HVAC design experience, preferably in highly regulated environments like pharmaceuticals or healthcare. A minimum HNC is required, with a degree being preferred. Title: HVAC Design Engineer

Duration: Permanent or Contract (Inside IR35)

Location: Greater Manchester

Our client is a design and build consultancy that services the life science industry. They are looking to a HVAC Design Engineer to their team in Greater Manchester.

Responsibilities

• Produce mechanical/HVAC designs from concept to detailed design across all RIBA stages.
• Ensure all designs meet safety, environmental, CDM and quality.
• Create detailed designs for building services in labs, cleanrooms and manufacturing facilities.
• Size, select and plan plant, equipment and distribution systems for comfort and process needs.
• Support construction teams with design info, coordination and technical queries.
• Assist procurement by obtaining quotations and preparing schedules.
• Provide information for statutory submissions and attend client design meetings.
• Mentor junior engineers and carry out site surveys when required.

Requirements

• HNC minimum or equivalent in Building Services; degree preferred.
• Strong experience in HVAC and mechanical building services design (ventilation, AC, chilled water, heating, steam).
• Experience with pharmaceutical/healthcare cleanroom or highly regulated projects.
• Good understanding of CDM regulations and design risk assessments.
• Able to coordinate turnkey mechanical/electrical projects.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and able to communicate with clients effectively.
