Overview
We are currently seeking a proactive and experienced Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Advisor to join our team on a high-profile data centre construction project. This role is with a specialist contractor responsible for the installation and ongoing maintenance of diesel and gas-powered generator systems. As HSE Advisor, you will ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation and company standards, supporting site teams in fostering a strong safety culture throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Provide on-site HSE support during the installation and commissioning of generator systems.
- Monitor compliance with project HSE plans, risk assessments, method statements, and statutory requirements.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits, reporting findings and ensuring corrective actions are tracked and completed.
- Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, and inductions to staff and subcontractors.
- Investigate and report on incidents, near misses, and unsafe practices, ensuring timely closure of corrective actions.
- Liaise with the principal contractor's HSE team and client representatives to maintain alignment with overall project safety goals.
- Support the development and continuous improvement of internal HSE procedures.
- Promote a culture of safety awareness and environmental responsibility across the site team.
Requirements
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate (or equivalent) - essential.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar HSE role, ideally on M&E or critical infrastructure projects.
- Prior experience working with generator systems or heavy plant/equipment is highly desirable.
- Up-to-date knowledge of UK/EU HSE legislation and best practices.
- Strong communication, coaching, and influencing skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider project team.
- CSCS Card - required.
- First Aid at Work - desirable.
